>>War is one spark away. It could come in weeks, or even within days.<<

We are a loooong way from war on our soil partner. Lemmie tell ya, folks still have way too much to lose. Takin kiddos to soccer practice, meeting deadlines, doctor appts. and such. Life is busy for most folks. People are working to save for retirement, doubt seriously folks will take a weeks vacation to fight CW11. lol

I agree. But it’s actually already started here.

Yes, it has.

“We live in 2017, not 1865. A CWII will make CWI look like a walk in the park on a warm spring day.

Casualties will far exceed a million.”

Possibly. But most of the casualties from Civil War I were caused by infection. We won’t have those to contend with.

I’ve read and enjoyed both.

My guess a short but very deadly civil war where scores are settled, leftist are going to pay a horrible price in life and treasure.

It won't be short and it won't look anything like the last one. There will be no armies the North and South, no Red State/Blue State battles. It will be urban guerrilla terrorism, much like it already is except more frequent and bloody.

“Leftists are losing their minds over Trump”. Yes, they are. It is very unnatural, and I believe, demonically driven. It is truly evil vs good. They are insane.

Insanity of the Far Left Rat Party will lead to a civil war 2!!!

We have had 28 years of the worst presidential leadership evah in my humble opinion is another reason the far left is so insane!!!

There is such a vacuum void in real leadership around the world as we saw in Hamburg, Germany!!!

The protesters destroyed property and yet the police kept using the water canons! Why is the question???

I would have ordered not only the water canons but tear gas should be used in great quantities. I know they used pepper spray but they should have continued its use!!

“Casualties will far exceed a million.”

10s of millions ... mostly in cities.

“Possibly. But most of the casualties from Civil War I were caused by infection. We won’t have those to contend with.”

In a warzone, you aren’t getting to a doctor quickly. If you get any kind of infection, you’re probably dead ... if you’re in a city and plumbing/sewage systems fails, one small cut exposed to that filth and you’re done.

I don’t think we are anywhere near a tipping point. I could be 100% wrong of course. However, I feel if it does break out, it’s mainly going to be riots in metropolitan areas.

Seriously, do you think people in the rural areas are going to kill one another? :-). I know I won’t be doing that :-). I’d defend my family and my neighbors ... no problem ... however, I don’t think the same could be said as you get closer to liberal enclaves ... they’ll be killing one another to get out of the mess they’ve created.

That’s assuming things stay ‘calm’ enough that hospitals and pharmacies remain somewhat operational, and are not overrun with looters seeking drugs. Some preppers will have basic antibiotics stashed away.

THIS, and throw in the suburbs and any rural community within 50 miles of a major urban area. You are going to have to be really out in the country and self sustaining to avoid it. Even then, you will have to be prepared to defend yourself from the ferals and the displaced starving urbanites who will flow your way.

A very broad statement lacking detail. Any foreign country attempting to participate in a US civil war, would be incredibly foolish.

Concur. The War Between The States was just that, and the current divide in America doesn't look like that at all. If anything it is, as you suggest, urban versus suburban, small-town, and rural. One look at the last election map will show what I'm talking about.

There's a precedent for this: Paris. Not the current Paris of the banlieues although that might actually fit, no this one is 1587. Consider these points:

1. A popular movement funded by foreign sources;
2. A sharp demarkation between the politics within the city and without;
3. Demagoguery from paid, professional agitators;
4. Physical isolation of the neighborhoods (by chains and barricades)
5. A "community organizer" (Henry of Guise) willing to foment a little rebellion to vault to power.
6. A central government (Henry III) torn by internal dissension and feuding factions.

If this starts to sound a little familiar, it should. In the place of the brilliant Spanish ambassador Mendoza who funded and organized the thing, we have such figures as George Soros, in the place of the Jesuit rabble-rousers we have Organizing for America, we have "ghettos" (these aren't actually real ghettos in the European sense), local power in the form of gangs, local gang leadership, and in our case a central government that is not really equipped, in fact, for the most part is prohibited, from local intervention. I'm speaking of Chicago, Baltimore, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York...

The first instance in Paris, that of the Night of the Barricades, 1587, ended up in the escape of the King, the temporary accession of the Duke of Guise, and eventually the assassination of both. Nobody won. Well actually, a third Henry (of Navarre, the first Bourbon king) won it, exactly the opposite of what the Parisian rebels were after and contrary to what the sitting government of Henry III was after as well.

Another instance in Paris that strikes me as similar was that of the Communards of 1871, who decided to break the city off from the government that had just been defeated in the Franco-Prussian War. In that case the Prussians stood aside while the central government took it out on the insurgents. Nasty business. Same model.

So, since we're all speculating, that would be my current model of choice within certain U.S. cities. These tend to heavily influence their respective state governments, some places more (New York) than others (LA or maybe Seattle), who have economically influential outlying areas that are currently less influential politically than they figure they deserve.

Just a model I'm throwing out there, no better or worse than any future history speculation. But if it does go down I'll be very glad I live in the country.

Saw an "Obama-Olbermann" bumper sticker the other day. Really made me wonder at the deranged thinking about such a thing.

Good thing about bumper stickers like that, make ID'ing them a lot easier.

Most people are too busy working and paying bills to bother with a civil war. Or too busy being entertained. That’s the main difference between now and the 1860s — not much of an entertainment industry back then. The fraction of the population that would turn out for either side in a civil war would be quite low.

Fine with me. My new AR-15 is supposed to be here this week. And a 35 year gap hasn’t dulled much of what the army taught me in using it.
