The latest addition to the family. . .straight from the animal shelter. My brother said there was a Doogie (my 2 year old/over 100 lb dog’s name that someone hit) at the dog pound and thought it was a beagle. I felt led to investigate. A beagle??? NOT. A Brittany Spaniel type. . .someone cut off his tail I think. . .brown and creamy white. . .and not little. He is two Doggie Dogs lengthwise and almost twice Doggie Dog’s height. . . . Ok. . .so far not quite as destructive as the other Doogie which did thousands of dollars of damage. This one has racked up about $250 so far that I know of. There is not a person that has come to the house that is not his friend. . .so much so he follows them down the lane. Just a few minutes ago the UPS man (Delivering what else? Dog food.) thought he was a good dog and petted him. Doogie was taking it in royally. When he started to leave. . .Doogie was on his trail. I had to have the UPS man come back and we let him on the landing until the truck was well down the road. He is all over the place. He likes his two blankets, all the limbs in the yard, he chewed up my plant blanket that I had on top of the pen for shade and has literally taken off with potted plants I have out trying to grow from being dormant inside this winter. It has been disheartening to see the trails of soil leading to the “unpotted” plants. Doggie Dog is overwhelmed at this point. . . .The cats. . .well they have not adjusted. This is the last day for the “no questions asked” Doogie return. I think Doogie is a keeper. PS. . .something told me to go outside before hitting the button on this e-mail. Just as I suspected he had torn into the heavy big box the UPS man left containing canned dog food and packages of soft doggie treats (bought especially for Doggie Dog that has several teeth missing). He had one of the treat bags out trying to get it open. I arrived in the nick of time. I think Doogie is still a keeper.

I think if you rubbed her nose in her own crap and use a rolled up newspaper less sparingly Lena could be rehabilitated.
I think that no amount of work could get the dog to like her. Dogs are, of course, better judges of human character than are most people.
