Uber may be assisting in illegal immigration, some Mexican officials claim.
Arnulfo Leon Campos of Mexicos National Institute of Migration said that transporters of undocumented immigrants are using the private ride-sharing service to cross border points without being detected.
Traffickers of people going to the United States diversify their operations and now use private vehicle services like Uber to transport undocumented people, he said.
The statements were made last week after four Uber cars were stopped in the state of Zacatecas on their way to Durango. Cases like these have become more common, officials said, as it becomes increasingly complicated for transporters to navigate or circumvent tightening immigration regulations.
Campos also said that only one person has been detained so far for transporting undocumented immigrants. The driver was sentenced to a five-year prison sentence.
Campos explained that the service is also used to transport minors illegally. Recently, drivers have been arrested transporting minors between the ages of four and 16.
This trafficking network of undocumented immigrants, according to Campos, begins in South America, where they also hire taxi and Uber drivers.
So how do they cross the border undetected in a Uber Cab? Passport please oh I’m a Uber driver and this is my sister or brother..
No wonder lefties like Uber soo much, I bet they get to cross the border in a Prius as well ...
Seize the cars and hold Uber responsible. And Air BNB, seize the houses.

We need that wall.
Then call your congressman! President Trump can’t fund a wall.
Do these Uber drivers know the penalty for alien smuggling?
They’ll have five years to think about it, according to the article.
5 years in a Mexican prison is a very long time.

The wall is already built.
This article is about illegals entering MEXICO, not the US. Funny that Mexico cares about illegal immigration when it's their southern border being crossed.
No, this is about people going from Mexico to the US. It’s in one of the first paragraphs.
Third paragraph.
And Minefields backed up with a few CWIS Units.
It's about people from south of Mexico who travel through Mexico to get to the US. The article is unclear, but Zacatecas is not on the US border. You couldn't arrest a Mexican citizen for being in Zacatecas illegally.
