Last Veterans’ Day I was asked to volunteer at a local cemetery where my folks are buried and give a brief summary of my folks’ military service to jr. high and also private school classes. The students were taking a tour of all the Wars with explanations at each stop. One young man had on an official civil war uniform while giving info on the civil war. Before they came to me the American Legion lady who also was a vet stopped the class and from a distance asked which served in WWII. The majority said my Dad. It gave me an opportunity to talk about the markers at the foot of each veteran’s grave. I enjoyed the day, had some visuals, and have been asked to participate again. I was impressed by the students’ interest and respect.
