The government wasn’t so noble allowing the brutal institution of slavery and so it is my opinion Brown acted in ways to confront intimidation of abolitionists and to bring about the war that came. It was a form of terrorism if you will, but I do tend to think Brown a key to ending it finally

Brown and his sons dragged men out of their homes in the middle of the night and murdered them in cold blood. The Pottawatomie massacre. With the later Harper’s Ferry raid he was attempting to ignite a slaughter like what had happened on Haiti.

I’m curious to know what you think of Geo Washington, seeing as he was one of the largest slaveowners of his time. Or of the Revolution, since London announced two emancipation decrees during the war- had the Crown prevailed slavery would have ended by 1783.

Yes, I know about Pottawatomie and it was a form of terror in response to slave state men murdering and intimidating free state Kansans. The men they chose were linked with the slave movement in Bleeding Kansas. And I know of Harpers Ferry, have visited often, and it was chosen for the Armory to lead revolt and get slaves to fight for their freedom. Desperate times and I admit I like John Brown and even get the desperation that led to this. And Washington is my favorite founding father. It was good he came to conclusion to free his slaves. Complicated, but it dragged on too long by Brown’s time.

Of course George only freed the slaves he brought into the marriage. Those belonging to Martha were not.

And? What do you think of Jeb Stuart and Robert E. Lee storming the Armory firehouse to then turn around and raise arms against their country?

Don’t you mean “chose to defend their home state from invasion”. Just as their fathers had taken up arms against their country when King George chose to send an invasion against them.
