Many years ago there was an article in the newspaper that exposed what was actually happening with this Recycle “program”.
They photographed the Recycle collection trucks meeting up with the regular trash trucks and tossing the recyclables into the regular trash trucks.
The “Recycle Bin” is just a way to DOUBLE CHARGE the customer for what a single charge used to cover.
If you can find it, the Penn and Teller Bullsh*t episode on recycling is a classic. It goes into that and a LOT more.
I used to be an avid recycler. I don’t bother any more. Waste of time. (except for aluminum cans, which is why they pay you for them.)
