The article author, Ms. Judi, only mentioned revolvers, as big and bulky.
Yes, most ‘concealable’ revolvers are, by design, 5 or 6 shot models in larger than .22 Magnum. At a ‘snubby forum’ in Florida in 2005, a retired ‘ghost’ told the story of the choice of ‘concealable firearms’ the C.I.A. had to make. The two contenders were, the Browning Hi-power - a nice, well-known semi-automatic pistol, not too much smaller than a 1911 pistol; or the Smith and Wesson J-frame revolver. The agency chose the J-frame. The decision was that, ‘all the things that are wrong with the J-frame, were the things that made it right. Lastly, there was NO question when the trigger was pulled.’
By it’s design, it is a task to ‘pocket’ a semi-automatic with a sufficient confidence of negligent discharges.
Whereas, the J-frame WAS designed to be pocketed, in either the ‘x42’ or ‘x48’ series.
IF the inglorious C.I.A. chose the J-frame, when even Browning had been manufacturing the ‘BDM’, a .380 calibre ‘Baby Hi-Power’, also a pocketable pistol, it stands a weighted decision worthy of consideration for today’s concealable firearm carrier.
Ah, no,I’m not “pocketing” a pistol or revolver period. I don’t know why so many here seem enamored with carrying a gun in their pants’ pocket.
