Washington Post media critic Margaret Sullivan says anonymous sources provide a better foundation to a news story than official sources. Sullivan was speaking to CBC News Saturday about how the Washington Post used 30 anonymous sources to write its article this week on President Donald Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey.
The story, which alleged sinister motives on behalf of Trump, was composed by four reporters and was pieced together from “the private accounts of more than 30 officials at the White House, the Justice Department, the FBI and on Capitol Hill, as well as Trump confidants and other senior Republicans, [to] paint a conflicting narrative centred on the president’s brewing personal animus toward Comey.”
Despite standing behind the Post’s latest story, Sullivan claims that she would prefer not to use unnamed sources because of the obvious reasons: they offer no accountability or assessment.

Totally neglecting the known verified FACT from govt. released press statement that the Inspector General of the FBI was and is investigating the Director, and the Deputy Director. A PDF of which was posted here on FR.
Rosenstein took office, read the many detailed reports of Comey’s actions, omissions and obfuscations, and finally Comey refused information the President asked for. That,and the disjointed, rambling testimony in the Senate the week prior, with the combined orchestrated testimonies of Clapper and Yates (designed to “setup” Trump obstruction charges), and Comey was done.
This all confirmed in the aftermath with the questioning in the Worldwide Threats open hearing of McCabe, Pompeo, Coats, Rogers, Lt. General Stewart (DIA director),Director Robert Cardillo (Nat’l Geospatial Intel.Agency) exposing particular lies pushed, such as “Comey firing was to prevent the Russia investigation he was running” (no such thing).
Reference the Conservative Treehouse for non-reported facts, known to the media about the firing— which they neglected to include in their made up narrative.

Probably because those ‘anonymous sources’ are coming from inside the news departments themselves, rather that from ‘real’ sources.
They have too many headlines/stories that turn out to be fake, so those sources are likely fake, as well.
