The Justice Department is interviewing four candidates on Saturday for the permanent position of FBI director, an administration official with knowledge of the vetting process confirmed.

The candidates include the current acting director, a sitting congressman, a New York judge, and a former top Justice Department official during the George W. Bush administration.

News reports throughout the day Friday cited as many as 11 people under consideration for the position.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein plan to interview four candidates at the Justice Department on Saturday afternoon but it was unclear whether additional interviews might take place at a later date.....

Pretty sure the governor wouldn't appoint a RINO to take his place, so there's that.

I am not a big fan on Cornyn. IMHO we can do a lot better than Cornyn. I think he has too much RINO blood in his veins.

I don’t even like him as my Texas senator!

Kick him upstairs. I think Reagan could have done the same with Sen. Hatch(SCOTUS). Maybe even room for Gramnesty

Pick him pick him pick him. Sorriest Texas Senator we have had in a while. Let Gov Abbott appoint one in his stead until an election can be held.

Pick him President Trump, he would be great for the job and one Senator less to stab you in the back.

I don’t think they do special elections for the Senate like they do for the House. The picked replacement would serve out Cornyn’s term, IIRC.

As a Texan, I would much prefer “losing” Cornyn as a Senator to losing Cruz as a Senator. Actually, I think that Cornyn would be a great SCOTUS Associate Justice.

Gowdy?

As much as I would like him gone as my congress critter, the nation does not need a camera mugging politician as FBI director.

Gowdy is barely civil towards Trump when discussing him in interviews. I don`t trust the weasel. It`s clear he doesn`t like Trump. His disdain for him is palpable. He prefers Republicans that are more like himself (i.e. all talk but nothing other than the status quo to show for it). In short, Gowdy`s a RINO

Rooting for Sheriff David Clarke!!!
Had hoped he would be selected for Homeland Security—although General Kelly has proven to be excellent.
Hate to see Sheriff Clarke totally passed over again.

He didn’t have the power to do anything. Wouldn’t have mattered who took the job, the power was not there.

The dens are threatening to delay the FBI appointment. I think president Trump should recess appoint Sherrie Clarke and then tell the dems to take as long as they want before voting on the official appointment.

If Cornyn was selected, it would reduce the GOP majority in the Senate.

A special election for a replacement could only occur a minimum of 36 days after being ordered, meaning that any conservative legislation in the Senate might be in trouble for a month or so, and with no guarantee that it would be for a Republican (given the history of Democrats’ dirty voting).
