This NY Times Magazine profile of Keith Olbermann isn’t very complimentary

Whatever happened to Keith Olbermann? Once a leading progressive voice on MSNBC, he is now doing a series of You Tube commentaries for GQ.com titled ‘The Resistance.” A not-especially-kind profile published Monday by NY Times Magazine describes the aging host’s show as a place for voicing anti-Trump conspiracy theories.

According to “The Resistance,” the United States has suffered a “bloodless coup” and is “no longer a democracy”; the president is a “Manchurian candidate” who is “mentally ill” and beholden to “Russian scum”; we are witnessing the steady reduction of “the chance that we will have any future elections”; and Olbermann, the show’s tireless hero, will not rest until this problem is solved. “Is There an Actual Tape of Trump’s Russia Collusion?” an episode title asked last month. “There may be two tapes,” Olbermann concluded, citing a blog post from Louise Mensch, the English founder of the news and opinion site Heat Street — a former member of Parliament whose belief in Trump-Russia collusion is so strong she has suggested everyone from Ferguson protesters to James Comey is under Russian control. The world Olbermann describes on “The Resistance” is different from and even more dystopian than anything I can recognize, and his efforts to chase down Trumpian conspiracies can strain credibility. It was hard not to wonder what he was trying to accomplish, and what he truly believed.

Despite the suggestion that Olbermann may be doing some of this merely to appease a Democratic base that wants blood, the author notes Olbermann says the same sorts of things in their face-to-face meeting, even comparing him to birthers....

Keith was before his time on ESPN. He would fit right in nowadays. The network has drifted that far to the left.

Olbermann should be careful about mentioning any of his “ladies”...years ago one of them was left a bit, ahem, “disappointed” by him and made it very public.

I appreciate that Olbermann does go the distance with critical sports commentary even if it does get his shows cancelled. But why can’t he be talking sports on youtube videos ???

I’m noticing that “resist”, “resiste”, and “resistance” are liberal buzzwords of the past few months.

“Resist Trump” gets 93,700,000 returns on Google.

Soetoro’s “birth certificate” has been PROVEN to be a photoshopped forgery. Not “questioned,” not “suspected.” PROVEN. The PROOF was shown to the whole world shortly after the election.

Still, this author’s favorite example of moonbattery is “questioning Obama’s citizenship.”

"How are the mighty fallen … " I feel sorry for the guy. He's a washed up has-been who blew his one shot at the big time. Five years from now you'll find him at some West Palm dive, smelling of b.o. and eating free bar pretzels, while nursing his buck fifty beer till it's almost too warm to drink.

...even comparing him to birthers....

I caught that little throw-away comment also.
Obama refused to show his birth certificate, for years, and then they finally posted a pdf version that raised a lot of valid questions. Many experts even claiming that it was an obvious fraud.
Personally I'm inclined to believe that he was actually born in Hawaii, but he had some unsavory info that he needed to hide (e.g., surrendered citizenship when he took the Soetoro name; or some parentage that did not align to his biography) - but if it turned out that he was not born in Hawaii, I would not surprised.
Sure, go with the 'birther' sneer...

Obama was born in a Mombasa hospital. His Kenya grandmother said she was there that night when he was born.
I believe her.

WHINE!

Liberal commentator Keith Olbermann says that President Donald Trump influence on CNN tanked his negotiations to return to the cable news network to criticize the president.

In an interview with the New York Times, Olbermann said he was talking to MSNBC to return to their airwaves, but they didn’t want him to do commentary, so he rejected the offer. Then he said that Trump stomped on his return to CNN.

“There was an offer, then there wasn’t an offer, then there was an offer. And Trump didn’t like me, and apparently exerted influence on that,” he said.

CNN denies that Trump had anything to do with the failure of the deal. A spokeswoman for the network told the New York Times that Olbermann wasn’t considered for CNN, but for HLN, a spinoff channel. They also said that the “brief preliminary conservations” happened a year ago, before Trump was elected.

Yeah, right, Keith, President Trump has nothing better to than try to ruin your empty career, you little termite.

I stopped reading when I got to “. The argument feels wishful and familiar, bringing to mind challenges to Obama’s birth or religion from fearful, frustrated or opportunistic voices on the right.”
The huge difference is that the birth certificate is actually fake and has been proved fake by scientific demonstration and deductive reasoning - the twin girls born at the same time have birth certificates that carry serial numbers separated by Obama’s fake birth certificate and so on.
Overbite and the author have elevated their baseless opinions to a status equal to actual proof.
