Craigslist is dead but the corpse is still dancing.

Like so many tech-oriented things, the lowest common denominator of society have discovered it - and ruined it. Dole scroungers that they are, they believe that they can get something for nothing and simply annoy sellers with lowball offers and bizarre trade suggestions.

And, of course, the scammers have moved in for everything from ‘jobs’ to stolen goods to goods that don’t exist (eg sports tickets) ie fraud.

Whoever invents the next marketplace is going to have to do some verification and screening of participants and they are going to have to be much better at it than eBay.

eBay is dead to me, after 17 years of belonging. Last year I purchased some live plants from a seller, which arrived half dead. I took photos to document this and informed the seller. He offered to send me new plants---if I paid the shipping. No way was I paying the shipping twice. How outrageous. I sent the same pictures to eBay and registered a complaint. They sided with the SELLER and removed my negative feedback about him. I found out what's going on later. This seller was a high volume seller. Ebay gets a cut out of every sale. They don't want to rile a power seller with mundane stuff like, he's selling dead plants. And they don't want other people to avoid similar victimization, so they can make their money off the sale. So they remove negative feedbacks. eBay is THAT dishonest of a broker. And that's how they rewarded my 17 years of membership.

They can drop dead. I now buy my stuff from honest people.
