ALBANY Hamilton Relay, a national leader in telecommunications relay and captioned telephone services, has finished rebuilding its Albany call center, which was heavily damaged during the Jan. 2 storm that hit Albany.
According to Hamilton officials, the rebuild has added an additional 2,400 square feet of space to its Dawson Road location, and the company is now seeking to expand its work force.
Founded in 1901, Hamilton Telecommunications encompasses eight primary company divisions that allow Hamilton to operate locally, regionally and nationally. Hamilton has been providing telecommunication relay services for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing and speech disabled since 1991.
Located in Albany since 2006, the company has expanded a number of times, including last September. But on Jan. 2, the newly remodeled call center was destroyed by 85 mph straight-line winds.
According to company officials, no employees were seriously injured during the January storm, but the center was a complete loss.
We cant thank our employees and the entire community of Albany enough for the incredible help in completing this project so quickly, Dixie Ziegler, vice president of Hamilton Relay, said. Our landlord, Wayne Carter of Carter Properties, has been nothing short of amazing and was instrumental in getting us back in our building in such a short time-frame.
In only 111 days, a new center was built, employees were back taking calls and now Hamilton is looking to hire an additional 80 employees to fill captioning assistant and communication assistant positions at the expanded Albany location.
We are so pleased to be a part of the Albany community and look forward to continuing our work here for many years to come, Ziegler said.

With a name like Dixie Ziegler, I’m assuming this is Georgia and not NY.

Look at the headline.
I went to Albany, GA soon after the tornado. It is definitely Georgia.
If it is a call center and in NY, it is closing...
