Once again, it's Derby Day -- one of the highlights of the calendar. It looks like another great race!
In honor of the occasion, I am posting this wonderful song from "Guys and Dolls". Enjoy!
😉
.
“Epitaph, Valentine, Paul Revere...I got the horse right here!”
Several hours of commercial breaks leading up to a two minute jog through the mud. Phooey! Rather watch re-runs of old movies.
I first heard it in Oh God You Devil.
“Sit down, you’re rockin’ the boat!”
I got to play in an orchestra to accompany our local theater group. Fun songs.
Bill Gahr, the horse racing reporter on the AM radio station KIEV--the home of conservative commentator George Putnam--used "Fugue for Tinhorns" as his theme song.
Heh!
Than the Sport of Kings? And its greatest event, at that?
There is something very special about that two minutes.
KIEV Glendale — wasn’t that Ray Briem’s home station too?
If I remember correctly, Ray Briem was on KABC. His show was broadcast during the graveyard shift, so I didn’t hear it all that much. But he had a lot of interesting leftist callers , including Leftie Louie, Leftie Louise, Moscow Mary and the Documentation Person, aka Doc. Leftie Louie, Moscow Mary and Doc would occasionally call in to George Putnam’s show.
You may be right, although I thought he was on KIEV for at least part of his time.
