The movie Reds is one of these lapses into commie nostalgia. While it occasionally mentions some problems the movie is essentially a love letter to the American left and how they reacted to the bolshevik revolution.

The hippies of the ‘60s were sure inspired. I remember some starting communes to “live the good life” - fell apart quickly because they discovered that too many lazy deadbeat leeches made it untenable for the rest....
It inspired them so much that they had to change the moniker Communist because they were actually hated so much to what they are now known as Progressives
