Media pretty excited Trump had 'no legislative achievements in first 100 days'
Canada Free Press ^ | 04/30/17 | Herman Cain

Missing the point entirely.

Just about every news story this past Friday mentioned it. It was the 100th day of Donald Trump’s presidency, and with the decision of House leaders not to hold a vote on the ObamaCare repeal/replace yet, the magic date passed without a major legislative achievement so far in the Trump presidency.

It was an awfully big media narrative for an item of such utter irrelevance. I told you last Sunday to pack your patience, and you’re going to need it when you’re getting pelted with storylines like this.

Sounds more like an indictment of the do nothing GOP congress.

How, exactly, does the executive branch have “legislative achievements”?

It looks like Trump has been AWOL from his legislative duties.

Exactly. Trump does not legislate, the Congress does.

If the Republican Congress cannot get up off their collective duffs and get out of their own way, then any legislative program is necessarily stalled.

Like a skilled pool player, Trump does not go after the straight-in shot, but sets up a combination, using a bank shot that in the rebound, catches two (sometimes more) balls, knocking one in the side pocket, and the second in the corner pocket, leaving the cue ball set up to carry out yet another bank shot. In an unusual use of the cue, the cue ball may be made to jump over the “wrong” ball, to come down and set in motion the desired shot. I could never do it, but I have seen it done.

This is essentially what Trump is doing, going over the heads of the legislative branch, and getting the constituents to support him, and they in turn go back to their representatives and pressure them into doing the “right thing”.

Does Herman Cain know he’s writing for something called ‘Canada Free Press’?

“legislative duties” are the responsibility of Congress.

They are voted in by you.

Where are you on your congressman?

Not true! The supreme court and the 9’th district court legislates - everyone knows that

A 4 year term has 1460 or so days. What the hell is so CRITICAL of the first 100? A start has been made, there have been ‘winnings”, and since it’s the Congress that does the legislating why is a “legislative failure” put on the President’s doorstep?
no ned to answer, the answer is surely obvious.
Beside which, it took ex(hurray)- President Obama eight years and two terms to do all this damage to the country

Trump has signed 28 pieces of Legislation. I would say about half of them had some meat on the bone.

The others were just silly business as usual pap.

In regards to Legislative Branch and Executive as is stands, it’s like sitting in a car that starts up but has no wheels. What exactly has been put in front of POTUS from the worthless Congress? One party resists everything and the other is utterly dysfunctional. For all intents and purposes, the first 100 days was a historical achievement of MAGA.

Excellent. More of the executive branch needs to be cleansed and laws enforced.

I'm celebrating the first 100 days that Hillary is not my president, and I will continue to celebrate that fact for the next 8 years.

No one is paying attention to the Congressional Review Act and how Trump, along with republicans in Congress, is using it to kill onerous and anti-capitalistic regulations while making it impossible for the next democrat president to bring them back without congressional approval. Let's hope it continues.
