He was against slavery but he couldn’t bring himself to give up his own slaves, just as liberals today are pro-climate change as they travel in jets, for a minimum wage as they live off their daddy’s trust fund, support BLM as they live in all white enclaves.

Jefferson was hardly a limousine liberal! He had no illusions about human nature. He saw the evils of involuntary servitude; but he also correctly saw the problems of a mass emancipation without proper preparation.

At the time it was illegal in Virginia to grant a slave his freedom. Jefferson tried to get that law changed in the House of Burgesses, to no avail. Washington was able to give his slaves freedom since he had lands in southeastern Pennsylvania. That is today’s history lesson.
