Against the backdrop of immigration rules proposed under US President Donald Trump, the Missouri State University in the US on Friday announced its support for Indian students and said that it wants Indian students to "stay on in the university".
"Missouri State University (MSU), a long-established university of mid-west US, announces that the university values the presence of all Indian students. MSU wants Indian students to be in the university, to be engaged in university activities, and to be successful," said a statement from the varsity.
It said that since the decision on travel ban in January, the university has been engaged in one-on-one interactions with the international students and has been guiding and supporting them.
"At Missouri State University, there are 2,500 international students, all of whom have been given thorough support in every aspect," the statement said.
Crackdown on illegal immigration was one of the prominent promises of Mr Trump during his election campaign. He had also proposed more than once to ban Muslim immigrants into the US.
"We have welcomed Indian students for over ten years and will continue to do so with the same zeal and enthusiasm," Associate Vice-President of the university's International Studies Department Stephen Robinette said in the statement.
In January this year, Mr Trump signed an executive order clamping a travel ban on nationals of seven countries which comprised Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and Sudan for 90 days.
Several states in the US sued the administration against the ban, resulting in a court order which temporarily restrained the imposition of the ban. The matter is still under judicial consideration.
BS. Schools receiving state or federal money should be giving seats to US citizens first and no legal foreign students if there is a qualified American waiting for admissions. And illegal aliens? Never!
Speaking of, when the heck are we going to get that ban going again (now that Gorsuch is sat) when can the Supremes hear this?

There was never a crackdown on Muslims; only people with passports from those 7 countries where checking into their past is impossible due to their failed state of government.
This is one the lies they repeat over and over again and it needs to be challenged every single time and thrown back into their face while sternly letting them know they are blatantly lying. Then ask them why they feel they need to lie about this.
I'm getting to the point to where the only good leftist is one who no longer lives in the USA. Their values, just like radicalized muslim sharia values, are incompatible with American or western values in general.
Good question and what is the percentage of Indian students who are Muslim instead of Hindu or Buddhist or some other religion (although I don’t consider Islam a religion. Cult, yes, religion no.)? Are there no Christian Indian’s?
This reads like a major scoop looking everywhere for a point.
There are a large number of Christian Indians. Most are Catholics. Many Indian priests.
Also, when is the wall going to get financed? I wonder where it is in the competitive contract award process. Which proposal and design did Trump pick?
