Comcast creates 600 jobs in Broward County (Florida)

Comcast Corp. on Thursday announced 600 new jobs for its base in Miramar.

The Philadelphia-based telecommunications giant (Nasdaq: CMCSA) said it aims to focus on improving its customer service by adding 5,500 customer service jobs across the country. A direct beneficiary of the plan, South Florida will be the base of Comcast's beefed up customer care team at 15800 S.W. 25th St.

Among the hundreds of new sales and customer care jobs coming to Broward County, the Fortune 50 company will have 160 representatives dedicated to technical support for Comcast Business' small- and medium-business customers as well.

"Today’s announcement shows that our focus on economic development and making Florida the most business-friendly state in the nation is clearly keeping our state on track to becoming first for jobs," said Gov. Rick Scott. I look forward to seeing Comcast’s continued success across the state.”

Comcast is leasing 91,872 square feet at the Miramar Center Business Park through 2026. The company already has about 800 employees there and is expected to be the largest employer at the business park once it completes its most recent hiring push.

The company employs more than 30,000 people in Florida across 314 properties. Interested applicants can apply for open positions at jobs.comcast.com.

"Comcast truly stands out for its continued investment in both our community and in the families whose lives will be positively impacted by these new jobs," said Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam.

Comcast's mass hiring push in South Florida comes after CEO Brian Roberts said he wants to make the company's customer service its "best product," which would mean greatly repairing a reputation marred by federal fines for charging customers for equipment they didn't want and being named the No. 1 most-hated company in America with the worst scores in consumer cost, performance and reliability in J.D. Power's most recent rating.

The $80 billion company has already made steps to remedy its customer service woes, including most recently rolling out a customer app that tracks when technicians will arrive for service appointments.

Does anyone work/ever worked for Comcast?

I’m in customer service/call center industry currently, and looking to relocate to Fla. in the future.
Is it a decent company to work for?

Anyone have a connection I can use? Thanks!!

I lived in Broward when they came in to Ft. Lauderdale. It didn’t take me long to figure them out and fire them. Worst customer service EVER. Now that they own NBC even more reason to avoid them.

I live in Broward, but I don't know if Comcast is decent to work for.

I do know that their customer service has been absolutely abysmal for years and years... just breathtakingly awful.

Cost of living is probably a little high down here, due to the real estate/rental market having gotten more expensive over the last few years.

As far as Spanish, you're clearly thinking of Miami-Dade county down south. Not so for Broward.

However, the Tri-county area of South Florida is certainly a Democrat bastion...

I’m a frequent Dunkin Donuts customer, I can probably wing it.

It can’t be any worse than New Jersey, where I am now.

> adding 5,500 customer service jobs

That gives the customer service agents an additional 5,500 people they can transfer me to. I usually give up after talking to the 4th or 5th persons who can’t help me. I guess they decided some people are willing to be transferred 5,500 times before giving up.
