Fake news becomes costly
The only bad news here, if you want to call it that, is that the Daily Mail is generally not a left-wing rag. I’d be a lot more psyched if it was the Guardian being forced to own up and pay up. But all media have the same potential for harm when they blatantly publish lies, so when any member of the profession is forced to suffer for having done so, all shudder.

For a left wing rag, there are many times they do a better job of covering american politics than the american media. I recall when hillary started on the presidential campaign trail. Her first campaign stop was at an Iowa coffee house to meet with ordinary americans. The american media gushed. But it was the daily mail that informed me the people she met with at that coffee shop were political operatives.
