What I said about Syria in June 2012

The following may explain my abiding interest in current phase of the Syrian question. I have described elsewhere my criticism of the Assad state, for its support of terrorism here, for its Judophobia, for its sheltering of the Nazi war-criminal Alois Brunner, and for its ruthless crushing of opposition.......

My concern about the strange Western and Gulf intervention there also dates quite a long way back, perhaps because I have long been concerned about this interesting part of the Middle East. I wrote the following item in "Mail on Sunday" column on 10th June 2012......

"I HAVE been contacted by a group of Western women who live in Syria and who believe that most of what the world is being told about that country is false.

As far as I can discover, they are not stooges of what they agree to be a rather nasty government in Damascus...

One of my informants from Syria writes of the 'activists' we hear so much about: "These protestors are not peaceful, flower-carrying people wanting freedom

No, they are weapon-toting killers who snipe, who ambush, who fire upon the army with the sold purpose of inciting riot and mayhem.'

She blames Salafis, ultra-puritan Muslims influenced by Saudi teachings, who loathe and threaten Syria's minorities of Alawites and Christians.

She says many of the 'activists' are foreigners, a view shared by all my informants....."

So it proved. I heard from these informants, for the first time, of the presence of foreign fighters in Syria, men whose Arabic was not local, and who wore the moustacheless beards of the Islamist devotee....

Peter Hitchens lays it out about the 'rebels' in Syria-Al Qaeda terrorists.

The word from official circles is that "Assad must go" and "we are committed to defeating ISIS".

This sounds like an anti-Commmunist fight from the Cold War era being run along the lines of "we are committed to defeating the Trotskyites" while planning to allow the Stalinists to win.

On his radio show from the UK yesterday, Nigel Farage reminded us all that he is a "Donald Trump supporter" as I am.

But after hearing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's equation of what happened in Syria last week with a Nazi atrocity in Italy in 1944 said:

"...He was speaking at a scene where in 1944 where there was a Nazi massacre, where 500 Italian villagers were wiped out and he was equating that very much with what happened with the gas attack and basically what Tillerson was saying is that America is going to become the world's policeman again, which is a very long way from the policy of America First, a very long way from saying 'unless this directly affects us, we're not going to get involved'....."

Peter Hitchens “trash” was pointing out that the ‘rebels’ in Syria are Al Qaeda, the movement responsible for 9/11, also that the “doctor” in the ‘rebel’ video about the ‘gas attack’ had his name taken off the list of British doctors plus was brought into a British court on terrorism charges in 2012.

His final point that bankrupt Western nations have to do what the nations propping them up financially like Saudi Arabia want them to do, like use military force to advance the “Arab Spring”.

I think that’s more ‘truth’ than ‘trash’.

Makes one suspicious about what’s going on around FR.

So many people driven off this website over the years including those VDARE people (alt right folks) on their website and others at a site called “The Briefing Room” etc. etc.

If you scroll further down at the link to Hitchens Blog you can see the offending column from Sunday again.

Peter Hitchens is one of the few voices still heard speaking the truth about Syria.
