Indian companies thrive, create jobs in the United States

Indian companies are creating thousands of jobs in the United States opening both bricks-and-mortar as well as technology companies

Indian companies are here for the long haul – not only investing in greater numbers, but expanding their reach, creating jobs and training American workers. For most it is a continuation of past policies. So, even as they wait and watch for any changes that accompany a new administration, they are honing their message and laying out their priorities before the White House and Capitol Hill. Things look good with a businessman in the White House, say experts and entrepreneurs.

U.S. companies interested in India, and Indian companies already here, are campaigning to present a positive narrative – that Indian companies are not only increasing their investment in this country, they are also training a local American STEM-educated workforce, a need that American higher education institutions have failed to meet despite eight years of the Obama administration pushing Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

The key to growing a business in America is committing to a long-term relationship, and adding value for the country, Mani Iyer, president of Mahindra USA Inc., told News India Times. As possibly the largest tractor manufacturer in North America, Mahindra plans to further expand its seven businesses in the country and deepen its commitment, Iyer said.

A report released last month by the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., shows 274 Indian companies are operating in 36 states in the U.S.. They have invested close to $15 billion in the American economy ($14,929,595,110), and created nearly 71,000 jobs (70,875). The job numbers do not take into account the subsidiary employment and related businesses created by their investment....

That all sounds fabulous! Thanks India!!!!!!

And, yes, I’m still 100% against H-1Bs.

Indian companies are not only increasing their investment in this country, they are also training a local American STEM-educated workforce

Training is needed for the future. But currently there are millions of under- or unemployed STEM workers - so no need for H-1B Third World serfs.

That said, I'm all for investment in this country; I wish more nominally American corporatists would do so.

I think it’s great that someone wants to open for business in the US and hire American workers. I wish more American companies were doing that.

Yes, and those companies are anchors from which they import one Indian immigrant, then his family, then another, lower-caste Indian immigrant whom they use and dominate, then HIS family, etc. etc. ad infinitum.

They make it sounds like they hire LeRoy, and Jose, and Jake —that’s totally false.

They immediately go about setting up an air-tight, Little India, abroad.

She could be 10th generation Fijian-Indian:

I'm sure you can see the heavy influence of Fiji on her garb, yes..?

Whaddya mean, NO..?

"Well, Fiji IS in the Indian Ocean, after all, so it's pretty close and you'd expect, then they'd keep a lot of..."

No, it's not. It's in the CORAL SEA, waaaaay far away from India. But it might was well be right off the Indian coast, cuz that's the same amount they'd Fiji-anize. Which is to say not at all.

And that's exactly it --they have many strongpoints, hard-working, revere education, entrepreneurial, but do they INTEGRATE..?

No.

And it won't go that way here, either.

And I do like Indian people and food A LOT, I'm just not a total idiot.

I work with a woman — very nice, very American. Born in New York. I’m actually part of her Linked-In network. She knows A LOT of people. I’d say roughly 2% of us have names like Joe Smith. The other 98% are Rabinanath Gojidivanath or whatever.

Assimilation is not their strong suit. They keep together and support other Indians as much as possible.

I got a call yesterday from a cell phone from New York. Woman had a heavy Indian accent.

Once again America is expected to curry favor with those who favor curry.

Thanks. But not so funny if you’re a landlord & an Indian or Paki family has just moved out, if you get my drift.

I don’t see where those 71,000 jobs are filled by Americans. I also think that Obama pushing for STEM education is meaningless using the same old teachers who have a very basic knowledge of Math or Science. And virtually no knowledge of programming. My kids high school offers 62 English courses and 4 computer science courses of which two are just basic how does email and Word work.

It would be foolish for Americans to join these companies.

In times of layoffs, non-Indians will be the first ones to be chopped.

Their country is so intractably f--ked up, they can't really get anything done there. So they should open factories HERE.

We go THERE go get the cheapo jobs, THEY come HERE for the important-er stuff

Just have the courtesy to hire AMERICAN workers. This can NOT be an excuse to bring in 34% of their population here. NO increase in H1-Bs.

RE: 14. (That's the last time I reply on a phone when I have a real keyboard nearby)

I meant to say that we can go to India to satisfy needs to fill customer service job requirements and other less skilled low/mid income jobs if we really have to. And they can come here to establish offices/factories which will meet their bottom lines while reducing unemployment in this country.

They are creating jobs in the USA for Indians only. The jobs are only available to other Indians on H1B visas to do the work for slave wages.

It’s a big scam.

Creating jobs for recruiters at Indian-owned staffing services companies. Keyword: Recruiting. Not necessarily “hiring”.
