I just got home from the march, where I saw some of the action up close.

The place was a sea of American flags, some Gadsden flags, and several American flags that were black and white with one oversized blue stripe running through the middle of the field. I was told that these are “Blue Lives Matter” flags that honor policemen.

As the marchers headed down the coast, a gaggle of liberal-leftists, some wearing black t-shirts adorned with a big red hammer and sickle stood across the route. One of them waved a big flag that was red with no other insignia, and another shouted through a bullhorn, “no Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA!”

I had read that the protesters intended to block the marchers, but if they did, they soon had another think coming. As the main body of marchers approached, a group of athletic-looking young men who were shirtless and wore “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) caps as they shouted, “USA! USA!” ran ahead of the crowd and barreled right through the leftists. There were some scuffles, but then the rest of the marchers swept through. This happened right in front of me and I took several pictures. At one point, I drifted too far forward and found myself on the wrong side of the battle line, among the bad guys, but I quickly got myself back among the crowd wearing MAGA hats.

I’m not sure I got any good ones because there were too many people in the way. I haven’t seen the pictures yet—my camera ran out of juice and I’m currently recharging the battery.

There were no other problems as the marchers proceeded to a breakwater about three miles down the beach. I stayed with them all the way. One of the organizers attached her smartphone to a bullhorn and played Sousa marches and patriotic songs to inspire the marchers.

As I returned to the starting point, Trump supporters could be found all along the route wearing MAGA caps and waving flags. Altogether, his was a very inspiring experience.

I was there too. That makes at least three FReepers I know of. My experience was same as yours. Lots of fun, a great speech by Rep. Rohrabacher. We walked through the "roadblock" just as the scuffling started and continued on. The athletic young men you mentioned were actually an offensive line from a south county high school football team. It was a shame a handful of masked thugs tried to ruin what was a very up and peaceful event. The main organizer was one of the ones pepper sprayed. Here are my pics...
