The Aztecs pounded roasted peanuts into a crumbly mash that probably tasted like today's peanut butter but texture-wise, kinda rough. Kellogg ground up RAW peanuts and touted the resultant paste as a nutritional supplement for convalescents who couldn't chew. Looked smooth and creamy, but didn't taste what you'd call yummy peanut buttery.
Carver figured out like a bazillion ways to use every part of the peanut to make stuff including laxatives, soap, and wall board. And something that strongly resembles good ol' Skippy...
I'll let the experts decide who was the real inventor!!
