There are many people like this - geniuses in their professions, stupid in many other things. I know some of them - my veterinarian is amazing at his work; but his political spoutings are ignorant and hilarious.

How can a man be so smart and so stupid at the same time? I have found that to be oddly common place. People can be quite intelligent on one subject, and blithering idiots outside their area of expertise.
