Univision anchor Jorge Ramos believes he has found the explanation for the recent drop in illegal border crossings reported by immigration officials: fear or what he calls the “Trump effect.” In an interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN Thursday night, Ramos laid out his theory in detail.
“Jorge, the massive drop in border apprehensions last month, the customs border protections says 40 percent, it’s down 40 percent, people trying to cross illegally. What do you make of that?” Cooper asked. “Is it possible that the tough talk on illegal immigration by Trump is working, that he deserves credit for that drop?”
“Let me just say that fear is stronger than any wall,” Ramos responded. “What we are seeing right now is the ‘Trump effect.’ ” He continued:
These people calling their relatives and their friends, saying, “don’t come here, this is not the right moment.” So I think it is possible.

Beware of anything and everything out of Jorge Ramos’s mouth—he’s just repositioning himself with a new narrative more suited to the immediate period happening right now-—those statistics may or may not be true, for those reasons or some others, but the subtext Ramos wants to create is the feeling of “Mission Accomplished!! See Trump , now you don’t really have to build the wall! Just keep everyone in a state of fear that they will caught/deported, and that’s just as good as building the wall!”-——some time later later when the wall starts for real, they will redouble their efforts to cross the border

I just visited CA (where I have family). I took the train there. In the Bay Area, I saw (presumably) illegal aliens living in little shacks made of whatever materials they could find. It reminded me a lot of my trip to Mexico several years ago, where I saw people living in the jungles in tiny shacks made out of whatever materials they could find.
Why on earth are we allowing illegal aliens to infiltrate our country and replicate the living conditions they had in Mexico?

BTW, whatever happened to the meme that "You can't deport them all!"?(Typical liberal reaction. Reminds me of the "Squegee Men" problem. "No use cracking down on them, there's too many!" Guiliani did - and found out there were only about 70 of them. (I understand they are coming back under Blasio's administration.))
