I've always been a fan of the Beretta 9X series. My first center fire pistol was a Taurus PT-99, which was based on the old style Beretta PT-99. Incredibly reliable, I fired at least 50,000 rounds through it, and the ONLY time it jammed was when I accidentally loaded some 9mm rounds to SMG pressures (I used these really cool 169gr fmjbt bullets I found, and didn't realize that they and the loading data, were for sub-sonic SMG use!) After the 3rd round, the frame just locked closed, it turned out that one of the locking lugs broke and caused the action to jam. Taurus fixed it at no charge, no questions asked. I didn't volunteer the ammo information.
I've always thought the dropping block locked action, like on the Walther P-38 was quite elegant.

Own my original 92FS with presentation grips I bought and carried on the job as a LEO in 1985. Have the box for it. Nothing has been changed but I do have a set of grips so the good ones don't get damaged.
Also have a PX4 Storm Subcompact 9mm with 21 round extended mags. I use this for CC sometimes ;-)
