From a study of the debates at the 1787 Federal Convention and contemporary discussion in the States, our Framers anticipated Article V would be employed far more often than has proved to be the case.
A fundamental part of our Constitution is the provision for future changes. Since all earthly creations suffer from decay and corruption, our Constitution is likewise in need of maintenance and repair. Defects accumulate in our governing form. Unless corrected and reversed in the reserved setting of a convention of states, errors and contradictions will accelerate until a divided society erupts in revolution.
We must accept a simple fact; our masters in Washington, especially the courts and administrative state, have stolen the sovereignty of We the People. The sine qua non of republican sovereignty is lawmaking by representatives, and very little of it is done in congress. Instead, executive branch agencies issue regulations with the force of statutes, and courts amend the supreme law of the land at their pleasure.
This isnt free government.
Instead of representing a threat to a very soiled Constitution, an Article V convention of the states is a blessing, and one that our nation must utilize to restore the American republic.
We are the many; our oppressors are the few. Now, it is our turn. Be proactive. Be a Re-Founder. Join Convention of States.
Washington stole nothing. You can’t steal what is freely given to you.
Yeah! Just what I want, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Delaware, Maryland, Illinois, California, Oregon, Washington, etc. etc. attending and controlling the proceedings. Additionally, the attitude of most Americans( egalitarianism, free food, rent etc)militate against such a Convention. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe are not with us anymore. Imagine Jerry Brown of California a delegate.
By the way the American people in 2008 elected the most disastrous President in our history and AGAIN in 2012. This is the population you want to select delegates??????????
The Opposition is restless.
Article V ping!
Very good points. Some of the Amendments have actually been ill advised, showing that the founders had a lot of wisdom. For example, the income tax, and the 17th amendment which upset the check on Federal power from the States.
The problem is that the Congress Critters have been busy abdicating their responsibilities, but delegating to the Executive branch and federal agencies what should be their duty-so they have a convenient scape goat in order to get re-elected more easily.
They have also avoided reining in over reach by judges letting ridiculous rulings stand that are not reflective of the original documents. Once again, they can pretend that the results are not their fault.

How do 9 states “control” the other 41?
It appears that you oppose representative government. True?
Indeed. The assumption of Article V opponents, that a preponderance of states will send delegates to a convention called to save freedom, will do the opposite, is just silly.
In a nutshell, yes.
A COS is not based on electoral college (why 0' won in 2008/12), but on one vote per state. It takes 34 states to call the COS, and 38 to ratify. Therefore, the good will overtake the bad.
Bottom line, this is the best way to get term limits, repeal the 17th, and so on.
Lieberals can attend the COS, indeed they will attend, but no way no how, they cannot control it.
Bkmk
And it could easily be a reality. Though difficult to ratify an amendment, just the thought of Jerry Brown or other like minded individuals as delegates should be enough to shut down any such idea as unwise.
Ridiculous question, that should be rhetorical. Just add up the congressional seats in those nine very powerful and very left wing states.
Consider who might be writing the rules for the convention. It may seem like some kind of no brainer under convention rules if strict constructionists were writing the rules and there is absolutely no guarantee that will be the case. Rules writing could be the worst leftists on the planet, or a mix of delegates, or the Congress itself and we all know how that might work out.
Lots of interesting and dangerous assumptions IMHO.

One state one vote.
Do your homework.
Actially, the fears you express are unfounded. If you read the article V posts you will soon have an understanding of the process and your fears will subside. The founders wrote the second most perfect document on the planet.
Excuse me, but I see dangerous assumptions that things will be AOK in the status quo.
Yes, as a practical matter, nothing restrains the scotus. It conducts itself as a sovereign body. Changing Presidents is irrelevant to what five blackrobes may do.
An Article V Convention of States is a noble piece of the United States Constitution, and we will pursue it, just like all have done since the founding.
Jerry Brown can be a delegate if he wants. If each state has one vote, what difference does it make?
