“Oh wait, you’re going to stop paying me? I un-quit!”
Not being diabetic but suffering from hypoglycemia, I was a bear when I used to work without breakfast until I got diagnosed for it then was able to control myself by having a mere bowl of cereal around 9:00 a.m. at work........
I suspect that is her problem and if so, she should be given consideration since a drop in sugar levels can cause a drastic change in one's mood.
I had a situation once after I had been transferred from our manufacturing plant in Detroit to our HR corporate office in Troy.
I was now working for a complete asshole and we had a departmental meeting scheduled for 9:20 a.m. At 9:00 a.m., just as I was eating my regular bowl of cereal, he came into my office and said lets go to the meeting room. I explained to him that the meeting wasn't for another 20 minutes and that I needed to finish my cereal due to my hypoglycemia.
He then said "yea, yea, you need your potassium.....put the cereal down, lets go. If you have a problem, bring in a doctor's note....."
He then turned and walked out of the office and I quickly drank down the cereal and followed him out.........He never knew how close he came to having his ass beaten, which is exactly what would have happened had I not been able to level off my sugar level.
Its been noted, as a fact of human nature, that you begin to act like the people you spend a majority of your time with...
Seems like Ionia would have more of a small-town feel and school system. I vote that she should get a doctor’s note, show that she’s under treatment, and see about getting re-hired but ONLY IF the parents of the children she has taught over the years feel that she has done a good job.
Sounds like she pulled a “Castanza” (Seinfeld). She should have just showed up on Monday like nothing was amiss.
Middle schoolers are one thing, but if a teacher can’t control 2nd graders, they never should have been allowed into the classroom.
That’s her! Even her Facebook page says FORMER Ionia teacher. She knows she’s gone. Can’t believe her lawyer would approve of that word in there!!!
Yet another “educator” with a sham (education) degree abusing students. Definitely an emotionally unstable loon.
True. I’ve taught middle school for 34 years...
He moved back to the mainland to Arizona and expected to be able to work for Merrill Lynch in Phoenix as a broker. But there were no openings. So he took an assistant job for a top producer in an office in Mesa.
Things unravelled when he got mad at the his boss one day and stormed out of the office saying he quit. The next day after cooling down and realizing he had a big hunk of employee profit-sharing funds in an account that he didn't want to walk away from, he called his boss to apologize and figured all would be forgiven and he could just go back to work.
Oops! Not so. He was told he quit and he couldn't come back. His calls to everyone he knew in management went unanswered. The doors were closing on him. He was not allowed to go back to work. He was out of a job.
His temper cost him over $90,000 in that fund and he lost it all. Stupid mistake caused by his anger.

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Saw that episode on Mike and Molly
Completely different. Molly jumped/rolled out the window.
If she has diabetes she could have been ill at the time of her outburst.
Did you ever bring in the doctor’s note? I would imagine that would’ve protected you in case of a hypoglycemic incident. In the case of a boss beat down, ha ha.
No I didn't but I wish I had read your post back then..........LOL!
25 years as a teacher, she probably remembers at worst when she could smack the little sh*ts around. Or at best, time them out with out having to write a 25 page report documenting why they are so naughty and establishing a behavior plan.
My wife taught until recently. Kids know more about their "rights" than any ACLU lawyer.
I taught second grade for a few years. I had a student kick me in the stomach when I was pregnant. He then ran out of the building and down the street. I couldn’t leave the other students nor could I have run after him. He was like this on a daily basis. I can’t believe she lasted 25 years. I quit when that year was over and never went back.
