Highly recommend this read...
There were so many people who were guests or competitors on The Apprentice were nowhere to be seen last summer during his electoral campaign. Very few had the nerve or clarity of thought to stick by Donald during his many hours of need.
Still, he persisted. No time for a pity party, says he.
You can bet that Donald well remembers who ran away from him during that long hot summer. Comeupance will be coming up. All in good time.
It comes across as attempting to play down Donald Trump’s appeal, but it is not too bad.
Overall, I give it a C+.
Like many Trump supporters I have never saw one second of that show, but many in the media claim the only reason he won was that he was a reality TV star
Nice...
Donald Trump is not an easy person to like on first meeting. He is blunt and opinionated, doesn’t suffer fools and seems mostly about his empire. Over a longer time, people figure out when he’s being serious and when he’s just joshing.
“The Apprentice” allowed the public to “know” Donald Trump and smoothed some of his rough edges. Instead of coming across as a wealthy egotist, the show allowed him to be seen as a winner with a desire to help “the little guy” if the little guy was a fighter and a thinker.
The early seasons of the show included a short segment each week where Trump spouted nuggets of his business philosophy. I marveled that a prime time tv show could be about business but I’m sure it taught many who might not have ever considered starting a business.
Burnett created the entertaining format. Trump was the one who could sell the show’s personality. Personally, I don’t like the Celebrity format. It’s like a parody of the real Apprentice show.
