Promises of lower taxes, decreased spending and balancing the books are not going to cut it. Its NOT the economy, stupid!
Its the economy, stupid! The slogan, a variation of the economy, stupid coined by Democratic strategist political strategist James Carville worked well during the 1992 presidential election campaign. It helped Bill Clinton defeat incumbent George H.W. Bush who was seen as out of touch with the problems of ordinary people. In the early 1990s, the United States was hit with a mild recession and the economy was instrumental in making Bush Senior a one-term president.
Daniel Greenfield says it best - the elites are NOT the people they're just head in the sand jerks - and in the United States they LOST. Do the same in Canada. VOTE THEM OUT.
The "resistance" is a collection of elites, from actors at award shows to fashion magazines to tech billionaires, decrying a popular revolt against their rule. They are not the resistance. They are dictators in exile. They had their chance to impose their vision on the people. And they lost.-- Daniel Greenfield
How can it be the economy? Harper was presiding over an economy, while not brimming, was in good shape compared to the US. So a good PM, with a sound economy, was over thrown by a drama teacher with nice hair.
One year later I am still too demoralized to even care about the CPC leadership race. We just can’t win.
