Wisconsin is missing an opportunity by not making its permit available to non-residents.

For quite a while, I have been unsuccessfully looking for information that shows the number of new CCW permits being issued nationwide over a period of years, the past 10 years for example. Individual state data like this can be found but there's nothing to show the number of newly licensed Americans. State data typically falls short of showing the number of state residents obtaining a license for the first time over a given period of time too. The data is so elusive that it seems as if is being purposely obscured for some reason especially since I think we can all agree, it would paint a useful picture.

But maybe my search skills are lacking. Does anybody else know of any nationwide data that shows the number of new CCW permits being issued over the past X# of years?

What’s interesting is when the CBC/Toronto Star/Globe and Mail media elite lecture to us up here about how strict gun control laws help make Canada distinct from the United States, one should remember that most (if not all) U.S. states that immediately border Canada like Wisconsin are concealed or open carry states (Vermont has never required a permit to carry concealed or open) and that these states tend to have the lowest violent crime rates in the United States.

This would apply to Vermont, as well as Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Washington.

That is a big voting block if the dems ever try and do away with it.
