He probably had reason to be in fear of bodily harm but he should have not stood around and jawed with them; should have left the area. Pulling it to intimidate is not a good idea. I it has to be drawn in self defense it will go band.

He had every right to be where he was. What the hell is the matter with you? He had no obligation to withdraw at all. He had every right to stand his ground and prevent the thugs form inflicting bodily harm on him which it is certain they would have done.

Well said. I have been taught that if you need to pull your weapon, it is only because you are firing it to save your own life. Pulling your weapon and not firing it can in some areas be seen as brandishing and admitting you did not feel your life was in sufficient danger. Obviously, Oregon is one of those places if you are not a liberal.
