Ditka: If Player Takes a Knee During Anthem, 'He Doesn't Play For Me Ever Again'

Mike Ditka, the former coach of the Chicago Bears, two-time Super Bowl champion and two-time NFL Coach of the Year, said if one of his players took a knee during the National Anthem, they would never “play for me ever again.”

He also said young players, such as San Franciso 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, need to show respect for the game that has given them so much and stop “acting like a bunch of fools out there.” […]

“Well, here’s the thing. When we live in a society that pays attention to athletes, say, as greatly as they do to Kaepernick, then we’re foolish. I mean, athletes’ opinions are no different than anybody else’s, they’re no more significant than anybody else’s. They’re no more important than anybody else’s. Kaepernick would be an unknown, a complete unknown — nobody would know who he was — without the game of football, without the sport he’s playing. And not to respect that, you’ve got be a pretty unintelligent person, I would think.” …

They should get rid of the national anthem but he’s right. Will there be an ‘understanding’ with Kapernicks next team?

The NFL overall has had a very bad year. It will culminate with bizarre Lady Gaga antics at the Super Bowl.

If she can actually manage to be more tasteless than Beyoncé, that would be disheartening indeed.

He was going to run against Obama for the state senate in IL but his wife did not want him to. What a different world it might have been had he done so.

Mike Ditka, the former coach of the Chicago Bears, two-time Super Bowl champion...
3 Time Super Bowl Champion.

1 with Dallas as a player.
1 with Dallas as an asst. coach.
1 with da Bears as head coach.

and to get picky, he was on the 1963 Bears Champions - prior to Super Bowls.

Ditka should have run against Obama for Senate in 2004.

He would have won, and in the process, helped save the country.

There’s no way to say that the last ten years hinged on Ditka. There would have been some other way, or some other person through whom the last decade could/would have turned out the way it did. It’s like when people conclude that going back in time and assassinating a certain Adolf “Schickelgruber” could have prevented a certain war from happening.

The National Anthem at sporting events was due to an act of congress during the Great Depression. It has nothing to do with sports. Took their minds off how bad things were. Patriotism is the last bastion of the scoundrel. The left is using the same tactics-different words. As for Kapernick he will not be allowed to kneel if he wants to play for another. His attitude will ‘change’. I shouldn’t have to explain.

They should get RID of the national anthem????? Whaaaa?????

I was always so proud to see my young athlete sons before a big game or meet standing at attention, hand over heart, to the anthem. At the Olympics it becomes the symbol for the whole country when a gold is won. I don’t see your point and am a little shocked by it.

What a half-time show it would be if you had Lady GagMe and Madonna BlowYou perform together. I’ll bet they’d set a record for costume “malfunctions”.

Throw in Beyoncé’s thighs and you’d have a new version of “Thunderclap Newman” (”There’s Something in the Air”). She’d be called “ThunderClapThighs, Beyonce’ the Thunder Dome”.
