If Obama set conditions to Lopez’s commutation (such as signing a statement renouncing terrorism), and if Lopez hasn’t met them when Trump is in office, it is possible that Trump would be able to rescind the commutation (particularly if the commutation had not yet been published in the Federal Registry at such time, which would allow Trump to argue that it hadn’t been issued formally).

However, it seems that Obama, who still has not met a Communist whom he didn’t like, commuted Lopez’s without any conditions (or at least none that I have seen reported), so we’re almost certainly screwed.

An old Communist-affiliated terrorist (who would be out already had he not twice attempted to murder guards to escape, and then again had he agreed to sign a document renouncing terrorism back in 1999) roaming the streets. Thanks, Obama—closing out you un-American presidency with a brush of feces.

Of course, Obama commuting Lopez’s sentence was not even his worst commutation yesterday, what with Bradley Tranning ....

In 1980-81 the ATF came to my insurance investigation office to try to get me to turn on my friend Oscar Lopez.
They made it very clear they were doing it on the orders of Cong Dan Rostenkowski, chairman of the committee that controlled their budget, and their jobs.

The ATF had not the slightest interest in the truth or facts. They tried to get me to parrot bogus charges they wanted to place against Oscar.

They also claimed that they wanted me to help the ATF find Oscar, whom the claimed was in hiding. But they knew full well that capitalist FALN Oscar Lopez was working in his FALN Capitalist brother’s Texaco gas station on Damen and Wicker and not in the Division Street hardware store of his other Capitalist FALN brother.

On my part, I tried to convince the ATF that they should prosecute Isadore Ganza, Tom Keane, Bernard Feinberg, etal for the conspiracy and the act of setting 113 fires in 97 buildings in the 2 block area of Division-Potomac-Leavitt-Oakley. Of course Isador Ganza, precinct captain of the area for Cong Rosetenkowski, actually worked for #2 power in Chicago Tom Keane and not for Rosty.

My first conversation with Isador Ganza, he called me on the phone, told me he was the precinct captain and told me:

You’d better sell fast or the n _ _ _ _ _ s will burn down your building (a 6 flat I owned and lived in).

The 2d time he talked to me was in person beside my building. He admitted he was the one who called me on the phone and said that.

The 3d time he talked to me, when I confronted him about a baby who died in a fire after our 2d conversation, his reply was:

It was only a n _ _ _ _ _ baby. That woman can easily pop another.

That was the type of person the ATF would not prosecute while they tried to get me to frame Oscar Lopez. The ATF/Rosty thought I would be a good person to advance the frame up because I had a reputation as an insurance investigator and as a guy who could get along with all the various anti-Dem machine factions in the community. And they knew I disagreed with Oscar on political ideology and yet associated with him. I was the perfect Judas from their perspective.

The real motivate was that Oscar Lopez was the most effective non-Alinsky community organizer that Rosty had ever seen (and that I have ever seen). Rosty was afraid that Oscar Lopez would organize a political campaign and beat Rosty for congress in his district that was becoming ever heavier Hispanic and independent minded (independent of the Dem machine).

Don’t believe fake news, especially when it is written to suck you in to support it.

Interesting. So it was plain ol’ Chicago politics all this time?

“He got the book thrown at him for embarrassing Obama, no other reason.”

Yep.

Yes. Both R and D US Attorneys, FBI, ATF, Cong Rostenkowski, Mayor Daley couldn’t care less that a Molotov cocktail went thru the plate glass window of the Chicago office of the government of Puerto Rico.

They care about their bureaucracy and their position in that bureaucracy.

In my many anti-Dem machine activities, some activities were successful, some bombed. When my activity threatened a precinct captain’s patronage job, he came after me. When my activity threatened someone higher up the food chain, they came after me.

But when my efforts were ineffective, nobody bothered me.

Mike Baretto, Henry Geisler were conservative Republicans. Ben Lewis was a centrist Democrat. Fred Hampton was a Black Panther. They were all assassinated on orders of the political powers at the top because they threatened the machine far more than I ever did.
