How about we take all of north and south america's US foreign aid and apply it to the wall budget.

So...we pay for the wall? I thought Mexico was going to.

Simple way to start the payment process is to tack a 25% surcharge on all wire transfers to Mexico and Central America. In the past, Western Union transfers was the largest source of dollars for Mexico, even more than oil.

Trump, in his first week in office, should have his folks have the IRS initiate an IMMEDIATE hold on all tax refunds (particularly those based largely on the Earned Income Tax Credit & the Child Tax Credit) to illegal aliens (those without an SSN). There’s a huge amount of fraud in these payments.

$23 billion was sent to Mexico last year by Mexicans working in the United States, by legitimate means such as wire transfer. Tacking a moderate surcharge onto that, large enough to cover the wall, eventually, but small enough that there is no point in using less reliable means of sending money, would get the wall paid for in 10-20 years, less if the prices for the wall are overstated.

I’m thinking the money saved from excluding illegals and other non-citizens from the various federal welfare programs should be enough to cover the costs within Trump’s first term.

No, I don’t have actual numbers. Just making a presumption that might be wrong.

I know you mean well, but come on, this is not a well thought out post. Basically, Trump is going to tax remittances sent back by illegal immigrants. Currently, estimates are $50-$100B per year being sent back. You make up a big chunk of the wall in Year 1, with an added benefit of these people beginning to self deport in out years. Next step is to seize the drug money which is $8-$10 billion per year. Anything else, Trump squeezes Mexico for. We hold all the cards. Their entire economy is dependent on us so they will fold.

Or we could just take all of Baja California in exchange. All that beach front property will cover it.
