Okay, will turn modem on/off, and then computer on/off. If I can still access FR after all that, I report back. If I don’t report back, it all went black.

Follow tax controls advice below but, I added the cmd Get a command prompt by running CMD type in ipconfig /release Wait 10 seconds type ipconfig /renew while in cmd window type ping apple.com and see if it reaches their server. If it does then type tracrt apple.com Then report the results

Okay, I did what you said. Nothing happened. I very like am not doing it right. I tried to do what taxcontrol suggested but didn’t see what I was supposed to see.
Obviously I am a serious techtard into the bargain.

Since that doesn’t open, does that mean all kinds of sites are down?

Have you tried trouble shooting from network controls ?
ie:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center
I am use to doing a lot this in cmd but, these days Microsuck does a pretty good of resolving issues

Do you have any other devices such as a phone or a tablet that you can use to check your wifi signal.

I would whack my LAN settings after a bad disconnect from a VPN login to work.
control panel\internet options\connections
select LAN settings.
verify that proxy server is not checked.
not much....good luck

Iran is breaking the Internet for many people.
I expect Trump will fix it.
To: little jeremiah
No.
It means you cannot see beyond your network and for some reason are hard locked to FR....
all other sites are available.
Try:

Just kidding.
I’m sure it’s frustrating and if I were sitting in front of your computer I would probably find the problem in a minute or two...

To everyone:
Thank you for advice.
I turned modem off and waited, and then on again.
That appeared to fix whatever it was.
I should be ashamed to bother people with this - but at the same time, through years of crappy and weird internet, I never had a situation where only Free Republic worked, and nothing else!
Thank you.

I opened something that said Command prompt, it was black. I do not know what a DOS window is.
I am not exaggerating by describing myself as a techtard, really I’m worse that that. Obviously.

nslookup should be part of the windows os. I don’t think I’ve added any unix add-ons.

Yes, although the latest Windows update has caused Edge to have a problem opening links in a new tab.
