Did you try disconnecting and reconnecting your modem and your router from the wall outlet and then restarting your computer?

We have frequent power outages here and often things get a little screwed up and give weird behaviors similar to what you are describing.

I loved that show! ‘Horizontal and Vertical’ lol! I wonder how many do not even have a clue what that refers to?! (I always used a tennis ball speared onto one of the rabbit ears to try and help!)

Enter this into you browser: http://67.215.92.219 and see what happens. If you DNS is hosed that is the IP address for OpenDNS.com DNS stands for Domain Name System, it is the server than converts the human form of a web site address into the computer form web site address.

Yup, having a few problems although minor I ran CCleaner and my anti-virus. Didn’t seem to be any problem there, but yes some weirdness.

A few months ago when FR was having DNS problems, a workaround was to hard-code FR's IP address into the hosts file. Is it possible that if one's normal DNS doesn't work, that this would leave FR as the only accessible site (assuming the IP address is still hard-coded)?

We live way out the in boondocks and often have problems but never, ever one where I can only get on FR and nothing else, and modem lights are all on.

as someone above said:

Power Cycle Everything. (You may need to pull the battery out of your Internet Modem to do this if it has battery backup).

90% of the time that will fix things.

use nslookup to find a websites ip address. Plug the ip address in the address bar and see if that works. There may be a problem with your provider.

from start menu type in ‘cmd’.
From the cmd window type: nslookup drudgereport.com
copy the ip address into the address bar.

This may work. It’s worth a try.

Using Opera I am getting a message on some sites, but not all and not FR, that says:

“Out of Memory
Either Opera ran out of memory or the process for the webpage was terminated for some other reason.
Try reloading the page, or navigate to another page to continue.”

I have never seen that message before. Very odd.....

I am going to sweep the computer with Malwarebytes and CC Cleaner and see if it solves the issue.

If anybody else has seen this message please let me know. Thanks!

Someone freepmailed me and explained it. Sadly, when I try in Firefox or Chrome, it doesn’t work. I am truly mystified.

I’ll try, but I’m afraid if I mess with the modem (it looks perfectly normal) I will lose the mysterious ethereal connection to FR! I may try it shortly, though.
