“Around here it’s not as much welfare as “disability”game for guys.”

I can’t tell you how many people have suggested I apply for disability. Thing is, I can work, just not on somebody else’s schedule. Sometimes I feel great and other times I am unable to do much for two days in a row. Pain comes and goes.

I applied for a cash discount on a medical bill and had to fill out a long form. Because I was not on disability and had not applied for welfare, I was denied. I have talked to people who brag about their disability payments and there is nothing at all wrong with them. It annoys me no end.

The trash talking of the America worker on Free Republic is a big turn off to lurkers and people trying to figure out what is going on. There are 90 million people not working they are all not dead beats. Get over yourselves. You sound like a bunch of old curmudgeon idiots.

In my opinion, given the limited information posted, you need to rethink your choice on not applying for disability. It is an insurance policy, not welfare, and will not be awarded unless you are truly disabled. Total disability is not required only partial and in your case you will probably have lower earning potential in the future. Applying now will lock in your benefit rate before it is diminished over time by lower paying employment that you are likely to receive. You can still work while receiving your insurance benefit, it’s not cheating the system if you play by the rules.
YMMV
