At family Thanksgiving this year, a cousin showed me his video of a 3-legged antlered whitetail walking past his tree stand along the KS-OK border. He told me he had observed the deer running with others and it was able to keep up. Given the angle of the video, I can’t say for certain it was a buck but that seems most likely. My cousin was uncertain how the deer came to lose its lower hind leg but a good guess says it was shot off.
From the pic that deer certainly isn’t malnourished.
It’s fatter than most mule deer around here.
