This is fascinating, thanks for posting. Do you have any idea if these clandestine tools were documented as having aided in the escape of any POWs?

From the article: "By the end of the war, expert Philip E. Orbanes says, 744 captured airmen had freed themselves using tools designed by Hutton."

Not a bad record, especially considering the expense of training pilots or aircrew, which presumably made up the bulk of the allied POW population in Germany.
