Donald Trump's win in November was the final nudge for one manufacturer to move its production back home from China.

For over a year, New York-based Trans-Lux -- which makes LCD and LED displays -- has contemplated relocating its Chinese facilities to the U.S.

"It makes economic sense," said J.M. Allain, president & CEO of Trans-Lux, which also makes the huge digital screens that run the tickers at the New York Stock Exchange.

To cut costs, the company exported much of its production two decades ago to Shenzhen in southeast China, a manufacturing hub for electronics. But as China's economy developed, conducting business there has become increasingly expensive for foreign firms...

Meanwhile CMM has the head of the Carrier union on complaining that Trump lied about the numbers. He admitted yesterday he voted for Clinton and said Trump “lied his ass off”. But he is a star now!

Just when Americans are probably feeling more generous to the trade unions, this ****er reminds us that half the problem with the US losing jobs is the greedy and corrupt unions.

That is why if we sell to them (instead of buying from them) we would make a lot of money.

True, but when you factor in shipping costs you’d have a hard time competing here with Asian manufacturers except for highly specialized types of products.

A recent Forbes article described the Pearl River Delta. Hong Kong sits on one side and Macau sits on the other side of the estuary.

Since 1990, nine cities excluding those two have grown together, coalesced, into an area the size of Vermont and New Hampshire. The population of that area is 68 million people. The Pearl River GDP makes it the 13 th largest economy in the world. Number 14 is Russia.

It is a serious mistake to judge China by the past of decades ago. There has been great change and there will be even more. The young people will not tolerate the ways of Mao and the dying old men
