The days of government dictating prices and limiting choices, appear to be coming to an end
Conservatives who viewed the insurgent candidacy of New York businessman Donald Trump with suspicion have been relieved at the speed and quality of his selections to fill his cabinet. Perhaps most comforting was the recent choice of Rep. Tom Price (R-GA) to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
A pillar of Trumps campaign was his promise to repeal and replace Obamacare and Dr. Price has been Congress leader in this effort. Price drafted legislation in 2014 to replace the law. The Washington Post described how Prices measure differed from the command and control aspects of Obamacare:
As long as they eliminate the mandate, I’m happy.
Repeal is good, no replacement thank you, free market works.
Yep. The advantage program just transferred huge amounts of money to insurance companies who are awful at delivering care. They and hospital corporations along with government agencies have become abusive.
I’d like to see them beat it down with the same gavel Pelosi was gushing with.
As long as the government is subsidizing it there is no incentive for the insurance companies to lower premiums. The same people who are laboring under sky-high premiums with enormous deductibles today will still be doing so under the Price plan.
I guess all of the those blank “As the Secretary of HHS shall determine” are going to be filled in now. And all of those which were previously filled in will be rewritten.
Kind of demonstrates the arrogance of the liberal/socialist/progress/ cabal doesn’t it?
He should eliminate the fine for not having insurance on day one - that was the most ridiculous component of this horrible plan.
The reaction to Dr Price’s selection as the candidate was so funny. For a year and a half Mr. Trump preached that he would repeal and replace O’care. When he nominated Dr. Price, the initial Lib reaction was like, “what??? He’s no good. All he wants to do is dismantle O’care”
Well duh! morons...
What a ridiculous example Part D is. It is mandatory with huge financial penalties if you don’t comply. There is zero competition because they all feature exactly the same formulae of plans, again by government mandate. The only competition comes from the customer satisfaction reviews, because you can pick the one with the highest rated service. That’s it. And, it’s expensive unless your drugs are all generic. No price competition and they observe the same formulary, again government designated, to determine which drugs will be on the cheap list.
Price has been a big proponent of total repeal - because he says that the whole bill is built on socialist premises.
They are still in shock.....they had been told for so long that conservatism was dead or dying and they couldn’t lose. I just read a post on another site where a woman actually posted “how did we get here?”.....lol
