Vegans Shriek at Beef Tallow in UK 5 Pound Note

by WESLEY J. SMITH November 30, 2016 7:59 PM Vegans in the UK are upset that they will have to touch money that contains a bit of beef tallow. From a column in The Guardian:

Few industries are as secretive as the one that murders 22m animals each day in the UK alone, and the driving force for that shiftiness is a lust for profit. So the way the Bank of England tried to sneak out money containing animal products seems a fitting metaphor for the entire filthy racket. Oh the horror.

Animals can’t be “murdered,” only people. Comparing the evil of unlawful homicide with malice aforethought with the humane slaughter of food animals is an example of anti-humanism with malice aforethought.

Tallow has to be used for something. Nobody wants to cook with it!

Well, exactly. They always have their ‘knickers in a twist’ about anything.

I wonder how many muzzies have eaten Oreos?
The filling is made from sugar and pork tallow.

And Sunshine Hydrox filling is made from sugar and vegetable shortening, but Hydrox only commands about 5% of the filled cookie market.

Deliberately planning and killing someone elses animal, is also not equal to humane slaughter for food.

We should also then stop calling the delberate deaths of service animals murder of an officer and charging those who kill them with murder.

It has been a LONG time since Nabisco made Oreos with lard. it was better in those days. Also, Hydrox has all but disappeared, only being available as an ingredient in Carvel (I LOVE Carvel) ice cream products. Leaf candy ("Whoppers") now owns Hydrox, and has brought it back to market, but it has nowhere NEAR 5% marketshare. MAYBE 5% near NYC.

Of course the original Hydrox predates the original Oreo by some time.

I, for one, long for the day that MacDonalds and Burger King returns to using beef tallow for frying their french fries.

MacDonalds stopped using beef tallow in 1990, in reaction the the supposedly heart-healthy campaign food nazis were running at the time.

Like the prophet Woody Allen foretold, we all know now that it is good for you.

I miss Hydrox. My dad loved Oreos. I used to sneak Hydrox I into the cart.
