"I went to my local Comcast store just yesterday to return their rental modem because I bought my own and also to delete the home phone service off my account, leaving only internet. I asked what my options were for internet only plans and there was some basic, low speed/low price option and then a 50mbps down for $49.95 (12 month promotional rate). This ended up being cheaper and faster than what I was paying for internet as part of my Double Play package ($53.95 / 30mbps). I walked away from that Comcast interaction feeling pretty good about it, which unusual to say the least.
