I think they’re a tad bit mixed up at Loud Racket. After Nixon came Ford. Ford was not a fool by any means. That was all media propaganda.

I barely remember Ford, but I think comparing Trump to Patton is very insightful—Reagan to John Wayne is merely obvious, which does not make it less accurate.

They Got to be kidding! I have maintained that the Democrat presidential nominees since Nixon each, in their turn, have been worse than the last. Consider:

Humphrey
McGovern
Carter
Mondale
Dukakis
WJ Clinton
Gore
Kerry
Obama
HR Clinton

Each subsequent candidate is progressively worse in terms of fecklessness, Americanism, new ideas, corruption. God help us in 2020.

Agreed! I have noted before on FR that Trump is a political Patton. Smart, bold, non-PC, and sometimes a bit vulgar. We needed Patton then. We need Trump now.

It would fit the trend line perfectly.

When Ronald Reagan openly opposed the communists in the Actors Guild, John Wayne was the first one to stand and support him.

John Wayne was a real man and a true patriot.

Ford was not a goof. He was corrupt. He made his bones keeping information out of the Warren Commission report.
