For Starters - the Oregon coast’s Jordan Cove liquid natural gas export terminal has been slow-tracked, pending FERC approval. It’s ready to be build, just needs approvals. Can Trump help this get started even before he’s sworn in?
Great idea. If we can wean ourselves off of petroleum as a fuel for transportation we will be much better off both economically and in security terms. The geopolitical importance of the Middle East would be greatly reduced. Oil money would dry up, and funding for Islamic terror groups would do so as well. We would not have to worry so much about relations with Middle Eastern nations, so it would be easier for us to deal with terror group militarily when needed. Using gas for vehicles would drive the price higher, but that could be mitigated (with appropriate relaxation of regulatory hurdles) by an increased emphasis on coal and nuclear for power generation.
An obvious downside would be that there would be some economic issues during the transition. For instance, until enough people drive gas powered vehicles, nobody will want to open a natural gas fueling station. At the same time, nobody will buy a gas vehicle wjen there is nowhere to buy natural gas to fuel it. I am sure there would be a way around situations like this, but it will take time and money to get it done.
Convert the Power Grid to 100% Thorium Reactors, with Hydro for peak power hours.
Those who don't will get the treatment that the SecDef in "Independence Day" got....
Unleash the shackles put on Alaska oil. Open up ANWR. Drill baby drill. Get the Trans-Alaska Pipeline flowing its intended capacity again.
One thing he could do is open Yucca Mountain.
