I love my Mossberg 479 lever action in 30-30. A decent stand off platform after I added a Picitinny rail and a scope. I’d love to have one of those 44-70s though.
Never heard of it and had to look it up. Looks like it will do the trick as well as any other lever gun. There are no bad levers. They are all fun, light, easy handing guns with no downside except that they aren’t tack drivers. But then if they were, we probably wouldn’t need bolt actions too, would we? The more the merrier.
Just so sad about last summer’s boating accident on the way to the shooting meet...
