We are witnessing the development of generations of self-absorbed citizens with grandiose infantile delusions of entitlement

When my mother was getting on in years (She lived to see 90 and three great grandchildren) she said to me that she was glad that she was closer to death-she would not have to live to see the next generation! I must be getting on in years, too, because I can’t imagine what the West will look like in years to come. I have been listening to the comments and opinions expressed by and about the Millennials and the Snowflakes-yes you heard right-the latest generation has been labelled Snowflakes.

I have trouble with the names of the different generations, so I looked them up. ”Millennials (also known as Generation Y, Generation Me and Echo Boomers) are the demographic cohort following Generation X, a person reaching young adulthood around the year 2000.” And “Generation Snowflake, or Snowflake Generation, is a term that refers to young people, typically university or college students, who seek to avoid emotionally charged topics or dissenting ideas and opinions.”

“Snowflake” behavior is still not a protected class. Personality test could be developed to detect the classic “snowflake” attitude and they should be actively discriminated against in employment on the basis that they come with too much potential drama.

I had some liberal troll ask me, apparently in earnest, what we should do about the uninsured now that Obamacare is predictably tanking. I replied that they were none of my concern as they were neither my children nor members of my family and that government’s attempts to make them my concern were getting more and more expensive and heavy-handed.

Freedom is a two-way street but some people want all the lights to be green in their direction only.

I trained and worked as a life guard for several seasons during my teens. One of the primary rules I learned was that I couldn’t assist anyone if I allowed myself to be placed at critical risk. You can’t save someone when you’re drowning yourself.

So it is with socialism - which is after all where Øbamacare is leading us. We will be incapable of helping anyone else if (when) we are so heavily burdened by costs that we can’t take care of ourselves.

I try not to read letters-to-the-editor idiocy these days, mostly because it’s a reminder of the ignorance our public schools produce, but any time a letter began ‘This country was founded on XYZ...’ I know I’m going to read complete bollocks where someone is advocating more Big Brother.

It’s been said a million times but these people don’t realize that never in the history of man has government of any structure willingly ceded freedom back to the people. When it’s gone it’s gone.
