In most states, once a person has a carry permit, further NICS checks are not required to purchase a firearm.

Realize you're not the author, but it's only about 20 states, and some of those have caveats, mostly related to date of issue. Though California restricts it to Entertainment Firearms Permit only. Whatever that is.

Thanks for the link. Good information.

I looked through it. By my count, a permit qualifies as an alternative to the background check in 25 States, not counting California he “entertainment firearms permit” likely only applies to the movie industry.

25 states may not be most. It is 50%, which is pretty significant.

Also, that list is over two years old, so there may have been a state or two added over that period.
