Do you remember the 1964 movie Dr. Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb? In any event, that movie title inspired todays column because of its obvious tongue-in-cheek nature.
To be politically correct:
Thou shalt not look another person in the eye while walking down the hall at work or on the street. That person may feel intimidated by your bold and uninvited eye contact.
Good article, but I think Ms Cowan meant to use the word
“toe” as in toe the line, vs “tow”.
Maybe the author meant the title to be ironic? Ok...probably not.
Stanley Kubricks Best movie,
“”You Can’t Fight in the War Room!”
Link?
Merely making ‘fun’ of PC is not nearly enough! It has to be driven back into its cave where spikes of ridicule and shame should be hammered through its foolish and dangerously idealistic heart.
Actually both are acceptable, for a variety of reasons. I looked it up once some time ago, as I thought it had to be one or the other.
I considered that too, but I don’t think the author meant to go that deeply or get so clever. She simply had a quick thought to share with us. So her thoughts were cobbled together and served up to her reader pals (us). I’ve done the same thing before myself.
You didn’t link the full article, and it’s behind a pay wall in any case.
That's wrong according to a muslim college student who's widdle feelers were hurt because someone didn't smile at her in passing.
Of course, you can always blame it on auto-correct ...
Pay wall. Can someone offer a summary?
Sorry, but no.
